Information on the World War II Impact Project

World War II had a significant impact on the world. Most of the worlds nations economy, government, culture, political boundries, and history were effected by World War II.

 

The goal of this online website, is to create a ongoing collaborative student research site on the effects of World War II on countries around the world. The project will also help students and people around the world better understand World War II and the geography, economy, government, culture, and history of nations around the world.

World War II Project Information  & Task

Your mission is to learn about World War II and its impact on the nations around the world. Please pick a continent and country you are interested in researching and notify your instructor. 

 

The instructor will share a Google Docuent with editing permission rights and you will create a Google Document research document on your country. There is the possibility that other students will collaborate on the document and editing rights will be shared. Please use the collaborating and communication functions of Google Docs to work on your country research project.  

 

Every country page must have a pictures, videos, and on-going blog. The country research page must include information on your country's history, government, economy, culture, and geography before, during, and after World War II. Also, all videos about your nation must be created by you and not by another person or website.

  • August 31st, 2016: select a country you want to research and email your teacher the country you have chosen to complete for your 6th through 7th social studies capstone project. 

  • September - October 2016: Complete research on your country's economy, geography, government, and history.

  • November - December 2016: Create your webpage which will contain information on your country's economy, geography, government, and history. Makes sure you include all of the following on your background page:

    • Information on your nation. 

    • Historic geography maps.

    • Images of your country's economy, geography, government, and history.

    • Embeded video, produced by you, which covers the background information about your nation. 

  • January - February 2017: complete research on how your country was involved in WWII. If your nation was not specifically apart of WWII, research how the region participated in the war. 

  • April 2017: Upload information on your webpage on how your nation or region participated in World War II. 

  • May -August 2017: Research your nations history after Worldd War II and what happened as a result of the world's greatest conflict. 

  • November 2017: Complete your section on your webpage dedicated to how World War II effected your nation.

  • December 2017: World War II Research Project Presentations

  • Step 1: Choose a country from a specific region (North Africa, South Africa, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, South Asia, Southwest Asia, East Asia, Southeast Asia, Oceania, South America, and North America)

  • Step 2: Email your teacher the country you picked and start researching your country's government, economy, geography, and history before World War II. 

  • Step 3: After receiving your shared Google Document, from your teacher, please checkout the model Google Document webpage on Algeria. Begin creating your Google Document webpage on your nation. Create a section that includes information, images, and videos on your country's government, economy, geography, and history before World War II. 

  • Step 4: Research World War II and the role your country played, how it was apart of World War II, and important battles or events that occured in your country.

  • Step 5: Create a section on your Google Document webpage that includes facts, images, and videos on how your country played a role in World War II. 

  • Step 6: Research what happened to your country's government, economy, geography, and history after World War II. Determine if there were any significant changes to the government, culture, political boundaries, conflicts, economy, and history. Sometimes major changes take awhile and they are usually linked to a major event in the past. For example, Czar Nicholas II involved Russia in World War I, which was a major disaster. As a result, many historians attribute communist revolution to World War I and other mistakes the czars of russia made in the past. 

  • Step 7: Create a section, on your Google Document webpage, that covers the major changes and effects World War II had onyour nation. Please include facts, images, and videos.

 

Blogging Task

 

  • Update your blog every two weeks. Please include information you are learning and questions you might have about your research.

  • Comment and provide feedback on at least three other student webpages every two weeks. You must provide feedback to different students each time. 

 

Webpage Design & Layout Instructions

  •  

  • Please model your webpage after the layout and features found on the Algeria Google Document webpage. 

  • Include a title, which will be your country name, and images and vieos that introduce your country to the reader. 

  • Include section breaks with titles that accurately label your section.

  • Use the same font theme throughout your webpage and correctly use font sizes.

  • All text and graphics area alligned apporpriately. 

  • Include a blogging element at the bottom of your webpage.

 

Copyright Instructions

 

  • Please include a footnote for every image or graphic that is used in your Google Documnent.

  • Inlcude a footnote on where your facts and information came from. You can include a footnote for the whole section if the information came from a specific source.
